Mayfair - Pendar Sillwood 3th May 2013

#1

6.15pm - 7.00pm

Kings Arms
2 Shepherd Market, London, W1J 7QB

- A circular route was adopted for the crawl; there was more walking involved but it meant that we couldn come back to some of the pubs when they weren't so busy, as well as being closer to the tube station at the end.
The weather was good for this crawl and this particular pub was absolutely packed outside. Strangely, there was hardly anyone inside, which at least meant a bit of space.

#2

7.00pm - 7.30pm

Shepherds Tavern
50 Hertford St, London, W1J 7ST

- Definitely nicer inside than out, yet most people were outside because of the good weather.

#3

7.40pm - 8.10pm

Punch Bowl
41 Farm Street, Mayfair, London, W1J 5RP

- Famously owned by Guy Ritchie, although it used to be co-owned by Madonna as well. Famous faces are occasionally spotted here but we didn't seen any. The regulars stare at newcomers as if they've broken into their own home. Sorry regulars but it's a public house!

#4

8.15pm - 8.50pm
(provisional)

The Audley
41-43 Mount Street, London, W1K 2RX

- Elegant and stately, its grandeur is certainly impressive.

#5

8.50pm - 9.40pm

Fino's Wine Bar
123 Mount Street, London, W1K 3NJ

- In these days of pub/gastro homogenisation, here's a quirky subterranean Italian bar that seems to have got stuck in a time capsule. It's not just a wine bar, it serves food as well as beers and spirits. The little alcoves provide for intimate spaces, the eating area is separate from the bar, and the bar itself has enough room to accommodate some fifty people or so.

#6

9.45pm - 10.20pm

Coach & Horses
5 Hill Street, Mayfair, London, W1J 5LD

- There are two Coach & Horses pubs in these parts; this is the more southerly one. It's a Shepherd Neame pub (Shepherd seems to be cropping up a lot on this crawl) and apparently the oldest pub in the area.

#7

10.25pm - closing

Ye Grapes
16 Shepherd Market, Mayfair, London, W1J 7QG

- It's much bigger inside that this view would suggest.
