The Falcon
2 St. Johns Hill, Clapham Junction, London, SW11 1RU
- This is the first pub on the evenings crawl. It is a huge,
busy pub next to Clapham Junction. It has one of the longest
bars in London (according to their sign in Britain) and a fairly
well-preserved old style décor.
Leave Clapham Junction at the main exit, turn left and you'll
pass it in a few seconds.

The Northcote
2 Northcote Road, London, SW11 1NT
- Leave the Falcon and continue along St John's Road to Battersea
Rise and there it is. This pub was frequented by the market traders
(it's at the end of the Northcote Road market) who were the salt
of the earth. A fairly basic pub, but like all the pubs in the
area has been yuppified by the influx of the Chelsea set.

The Goat (Temperance Billiard
Hall)
66a-66c Battersea Rise, London, SW11 1EQ
- Return to Battersea Rise and turn right up the hill. That's
it of your left. In the 70s a chap called David Bruce started
a chain of 'brew on site' pubs all of which contained 'Firkin'
in their names. These blatantly celebrated alcohol and the beer
was of impressive strength. He sold out to Allied Breweries for
a fortune and they continued his theme.
They bought several Temperance Billiard Halls (it suited the
theme) for conversion into pubs and the Clapham Junction example
became the 'Faraday & Firkin'. The building was listed but
became dangerous during conversion. So, what you see now is actually
a replica of the original structure.

The Windsor Castle
36 St Johns Hill, London, SW11 1SA
- A perfectly acceptable local boozer and a good location
to depart to Clapham Junction station. A small pleasant wood-panelled
front bar with a large separate honest, no-nonsense drinking
space back bar.
This is back at Clapham Junction up St Johns Hill about 100
yards up St John's Hill
