Lambeth North - Dennis Thompson / Mike Rossell

#1

6.00pm - 6.40pm

Horse
124 Westminster Bridge Road
Waterloo, London SE1 7XG

- Just round the corner from the tube station, we have reserved a table so look out for us sitting down.

It's a trendy 'modern' gastropub, very popular with bright young things. Nice high ceilings inside and spacious, hopefully with enough tables! The beer and wine choices are quite diverse - nice to see that the new style doesn't just mean a few lager brands. Good food available as well if there's time.

#2

6.40pm - 7.20pm

3 Stags
67-69 Kennington Road, SE1 7PZ

- Head back past the tube station for this nicely refurbished pub on a street corner with very big windows, giving a broad view of the crossroads. It has a traditional feel with a long bar, hopefully meaning quick service. Plenty of leather sofas to collapse onto if that's your thing. Not so busy as the Horse, despite being only 5 minutes from the tube station. Good selection of beers.

#3

7.20pm - 8.20pm

Pineapple
53 Hercules Rd
London SE1 7DZ

- Our establishment of choice for eating which is why we will be here for an hour. We'll cross the road from the 3 Stags and then head along Cosser Street turning right into Hercules street where the pub is on the right a short distance away.

Despite being easily visible from a train coming into waterloo, this pub (situated next to the viaduct) is actually a 'backstreet local'. Very clean inside, not the kind of 'grubby' decor for which this type of pub is traditionally associated. The layout inside is interesting with tables set out all round - the area furthest from the bar feels like an intimate cubbyhole! Good beers to choose from.

#4

8.25pm - 9.00pm

Camel & Artichoke
121 Lower Marsh
London SE1 7AE

- A smaller establishment.

#5

9.00pm - 9.40pm

Duke Of Sussex
23 Bayliss Road
Lambeth SE1 7AY

- Walk along Lower marsh street and turn right onto Baylis road and you should be able to see the pub. This pub has a more 'london' feel to it. Its large windows are comparable to the 3 stags but the layout makes it feel like more of a place to meet people. Does not always serve food.

#6

9.40pm - 10.20pm

Auberge
1 Sandell Street, Waterloo SE1 8UH

- Traditionally a restaurant but still serves a good range of drinks. It will empty out by the time we arrive. It's a nice place to hang out and people-watch. It's only 1 minute from waterloo station exit but its location gives it a local atmosphere. Head towards waterloo and then turn right onto Sandell street the auberge will be on the left.

#7

10.20pm - closing

Hole In The Wall
5 Mepham Street
Waterloo SE1 8SQ

- We head back to Waterloo road and turn right, just past Waterloo station turn left into Mepham street a small road, the hole in the wall is on the right and is a great place to finish the night.
