Brook Green - Laura Martz 3 February 2012 - 6.15pm

#1

6.30pm - 7.15pm

The Albion
121 Hammersmith Road, W14 0QL

- Real ales on tap, plus stonebaked pizzas, and live music upstairs. Closest tube stations are Barons Court, Kensington Olympia and Hammersmith, in that order. Food till ?, drinks till 12.

#2

7.15pm - 8.00pm

The Old Parr's Head
120 Blythe Rd, W14 0HD

- Cross Hammersmith Road and head up Blythe Road (or the prettier Brook Green) to this old-fashioned little backstreet boozer with real ales, guest beers and Thai food. I think it’s on the corner of Masbro Road. Food till ?, drinks till 11.

#3

8.00pm - 8.45pm

The Brook Green Hotel
170 Shepherds Bush Road, W6 7PB

- This Young's pub was my local until they painted the dark walls cream, replaced my beat-up sofa with yet more tables, and cranked up the lights. But it still has lovely high ceilings, massive windows and lots of things to drink. Food till 10, drinks till 11.

#4

8.45pm - 9.45pm

Queen's Head
13 Brook Green, W6 7BL

- A lovely big old multi-room local with plenty of seating. (There’s a huge grassy beer garden in back, but I doubt it’s winterproofed.) Now a Fuller’s serving a range of pub dishes. I, for one, will probably eat here. Food till 10, drinks till 11.

#5

9.45pm - 10.30pm

The Old Fire Station
244 Shepherds Bush Road, W6 7NL

- I kind of like this busy barn of a pub for the decent beer selection, loads of space and sofas. If you don’t, or it’s too crazy, we’re not far from the others. Near Hammersmith tube station. Serving till 12.

#6

10.30pm - closing
(optional)

William Morris
2-4 King Street, W6 0QA

Your choice of any of the above and/or the William Morris.
The Victorian designer and aesthetician must be turning in his grave if he’s noticed this Wetherspoon's is trading on his name. Nonetheless, it’s got a decent beer selection, a late licence and delightfully dreadful people-watching, and it’s within falling distance of Hammersmith tube station. Serving till 1.
