| Parkland Walk - Pendar Sillwood | 3.30pm - 18th Aug 2012 |

A pub crawl, historical walk, and sightseeing day all in one, along the Parkland Walk from Finsbury Park to Alexandra Palace. The Parkland Walk is actually an old railway; it's just under 5 miles from end to end, though because of its scenic nature, it won't feel like that, especially as we'll be having quite a few stops. It is sometimes hard to believe that such a tranquil walk could be located in this densely populated part of north London. The plan is to stop at most of the old stations and have a drink in the nearest pub (six stops - small measures are permitted!). We'll end up at Alexandra Palace, which is a fantastic place to sit and admire the views when the weather is good. There are also a few decent pubs in Muswell Hill that are worth exploring. Somewhere along the route, or afterwards in Muswell Hill, it would be a good idea to have some food. There won't be an itinerary as such, because I want to let the walk run at its own speed. There are a few sights to see along the line: the panoramic view over north-east London as the line approaches Muswell Hill, not to mention the stunning views over central London from Alexandra Palace itself. The line also crosses the roads where Bob Hoskins and Samantha Fox grew up (though I doubt anyone has any interest in the second of those two people!).
