UXBRIDGE HIGH ST - DENHAM

(1907 - 1939)

This line was intended from the outset to form a loop to West Drayton by joining up with the existing Uxbridge (Vine St) to West Drayton branch. A station was built at Uxbridge High St but competition from the newly arrived Metropolitan line meant that the loop was never completed. Passenger traffic was never substantial and it is perhaps surprising that the line was reopened after closure during World War I.

Just north of the above bridge, a huge crater exists in the route of the trackbed. Northwards from here, the line skirts the edges of the Uxbridge Golf Course and Denham County Park, before joining the main line at Denham. (Oct 2006)
