Making the most of the summer, this crawl featured
a lovely long walk along the river (well, about 10 minutes or
so)
plus an additional walk for those reaching the crawl by foot
from the earlier Kew Gardens visit.

The Railway
Kew Gardens Station Station Parade
Kew TW9 3PZ
- Not strictly part of the pub crawl, more of a put-your-feet-up
for those that came from the earlier Kew Gardens meeting.

The Ship
10 Thames Bank
Ship Lane
Mortlake SW14 7QR
- The blackboard in the photo above declares:"Fantastic
Food served all day every day".
There is a 10 minute walk along the river (add a few minutes
for taking photos) between this pub and the next one.
From www.fancyapint.com:
"Crummy quotes again, but dear old Dr. Johnson said: "When
a man is tired of London, he is tired of Life". And aren't
many of us. But then you take the few minute walk, which so many
will do , across the park from the huge but dignified place of
farewell which is Mortlake Crematorium and find The Ship. It's
famous, it's Victorian and looks delightful. It's bigger than
it first appears, open-plan with a semi-separated raised dining
area. ESB and Pride of course and, on this visit, a soon emptied
barrel of some rare and interesting brew. Nice young bar staff
get on with it efficiently. A bar billiards table is a welcome
reminder of past and happier times and giant Jenga and Connect
4 games are an unusual treat for the young ones. We'd go there
again. We wished we lived there to enjoy good beer and glorious
surroundings."

From www.fancyapint.com:
"Grand, stately affair that's justifiably one of Young's
flagship pubs. The wonderful raised view of the river makes it
a very popular haunt on Boat Race day. The usual Young's ales
are on tap or perhaps you might prefer to work your way through
the extensive wine list. Either way, this is a fine place in
which to while away a summer's afternoon."

The Bull's Head
373 Lonsdale Rd
Barnes SW13 9PY
- Is split into the pay-to-see jazz section and the normal
public bar.
From www.fancyapint.com:
""Europe's best Jazz venue" claims the sign outside,
and given the names on the walls of past performers, they may
have a point. With the jazz in question being more of a trad
than an avant-garde style, your fellow drinkers are more middle-aged
chaps than goatee bearded hipsters. Nevertheless, there's a relaxed
and easygoing feel to this one, and non-jazz fans shouldn't be
put off."

The Sun Inn
7 Church Road
Barnes SW13 9HE
-
From www.fancyapint.com:
"...with superbly made food, four real ales and two Belgian
beers on tap this is essentially a good place to spend an evening.
They even have board games to keep you occupied (if you feel
the need) and the atmosphere was unrushed. One of the better
pubs in the area."

The Coach & Horses
27 Barnes High St
Barnes SW13 9LW
- Open until midnight.
From www.fancyapint.com:
"Given their relative size, this is more a beer garden with
an attached pub rather than the other way round. Still, we stuck
to the smallish bar, stocked with all the usual Young's ales,
and had a chat with the cheery staff and friendly locals. Built
on the site of an old coaching inn, there's still an element
of period charm to the place (well, the toilets are in a separate
building to the pub). With the steady increase in Barnes of old
pubs scrambling to appeal cool and trendy, it's nice to see this
one remaining true to itself."
