Ealing - Francis House

#1

6.30pm - 7.30pm

The Haven Arms
33 Haven Lane
Ealing W5 2HZ

- This is very much a local pub. It serves the standard range of Courage beers. It's a single room pub, with a horse-shoe bar taking up half the space. This is nice place from which to start.

#2

7.30pm - 8.15pm

The Wheatsheaf
41 Haven Lane
Ealing W5 2HZ

- This is a solid pleasant local with friendly service and good, well-kept Fullers beers, especially nice in winter when the roaring fire's going.

#3

8.15pm - 9.00pm

The Haven
1a Haven Green
Ealing W5 2UU

- A blend of an old style pub with some more modern touches. Wine and real ale, light jazz and sport on the big screen, and a fairly young crowd with some older folk. It's all rather pleasant, though perhaps a shade pricey.

#4

9.00pm - 9.45pm

The North Star
43 The Broadway
London W5 5JN

- No surprise is the relaxed and friendly atmosphere despite its prime position on Ealing High Road. A good-looking building from the outside, the drink choice is good, and they serve food till fairly late.

#5

9.45pm - 10.30pm

The Slug & Lettuce
46-47 The Mall
London W5 3TJ

- This recently refurbished pub*, is part of the Slug & Lettuce chain. It has a good range of beers and wine. See the champagne bottles at the back of the rear section of the bar!
*(The manager came over to welcome me personally when I entered. I don't think that will last.)

#6

10.30pm - closing

Chandlers
2-3 Central Building
The Broadway
Ealing W5 2NT

- This is a new pub made from the shell of an estate agent's, and rambles into the bowels of the building. Not a great range of drinks but its location directly opposite the Ealing Broadway Tube station make it a good place to end the evening.
